Inglourious Basterds - Untermarkt, Görlitz

Five years after Around the World in 80 Days, another Hollywood film was shot in Görlitz. This time, you can see the lower market shine in a completely different light, more precisely in a hail of bullets. Quentin Tarantino and his team ended up in the east saxon city for the filming of Inglourious Basterds. The film within the film "Stolz der Nation" ("Nation's Pride") was shot here under the direction of Hostel mastermind Eli Roth. A six-minute continuous fire in black and white.

Inglourious Basterds - Karpfengrund, Görlitz

Another location that can be seen in both Around the World in 80 Days and Inglourious Basterds. Two films that couldn't be more different. When I found out about Tarantino's enthusiasm for Jackie Chan in the 90s, I had hopes that the two would collaborate one day, but I guess that won't happen anymore...

Inglourious Basterds - Hohe Strasse, Sebnitz

This location is just an half hour drive away from my mom's place. I don't know why it took me so long to visit it but yesterday was the day. The bad news: The house was built for the movie and is gone. The good news: Hans Landa and his Gestapo henchmen are gone too.
