The Descendant of Wing Chun - Lung Ha Wan

Huang Ha's directorial debut begins with a scenic view of the sea. The rocky coast of Lung Ha Wan is a recurring filming location for Hong Kong productions of the 70s. To see all entries for this location click here. The Descendant of Wing Chun may not be one of the most popular martial arts films of its time, but it is an absolute recommendation on my part.

Shaolin Abbot - Lung Ha Wan

Today, I decided to rewatch Shaolin Abbot, starring David Chiang, Lo Lieh and Lily Li. One scene jumped right into my eye because I recognized its filming location from another Shaw Brothers classic: Ten Tigers of Kwang Tung. In both films, we can see this rock formation from a more or less similar angle. By the way, both films were released in 1979. The whole Lung Ha Wan area can be seen in many martial arts films from the late 70s and early 80s. Mainly Shaw Brothers productions. Legend of a Fighter - Lung Ha Wan

Another sequence using the panoramic view of the Lung Ha Wan coastline. The plateau where the fight was filmed is now a declared kite flying area.

Killer Constable - Lung Ha Wan

Chen Kuan-Tai's beach lodge was built at Lung Ha Wan. A popular filming location during that time, especially for Shaw Brothers productions. The stony coastline also has been used for Ten Tigers of Kwang Tung and Trilogy of Swordsmanship.

Ten Tigers of Kwang Tung - Lung Ha Wan

The entire film was shot at the Shaw Brothers Studios, with the exception of the closing scene. The location is not far from the studios and directly next to a street (Lung Ha Wan Road), so i guess it was a pretty quick shoot. Nevertheless, it's still an epic place, because all ten tigers were assembled there.
